Essential Requirements for Nursing and Midwifery in WA
To be eligible for employment as a nurse or a midwife in WA you must have:
- a visa that allows you to work in Australia
- professional registration with the NMBWA.
Australia has a non-discriminatory immigration policy, which means that anyone from any country can apply to migrate. There are different criteria for different categories of migrants, as set out in Australia's Migration Regulations.
There are a number of visa options available to nurses and midwives entering WA. WA Health is able to assist with sponsorship for temporary or permanent visas (conditions apply). Please note sponsorship for enrolled nurses is only available in WA’s regional and remote areas – not the metropolitan area.
