The Australian
Nursing & Midwifery Council (ANMC) has, in collaboration with key stakeholders, developed the following standards for nursing and
midwifery:
· Codes of Ethics and Professional Conduct
· Competency Standards
· National Decision Making Framework for practice
· Continuing Competence Framework and
· National Guidelines on Boundaries of Professional Practice
Together these standards form the
Professional Practice Framework, a framework which supports nurses and
midwives in providing safe, quality care in an increasingly complex and
challenging health environment.
With the move to national
regulation in July 2010, a nationally consistent approach to standards for the
nursing and midwifery professions is essential in preparing for this
transition. The ANMC has been
successful in obtaining funding from the Commonwealth Department of Health and
Ageing to implement the Professional Practice Framework across Australian.
Professional Practice Framework Workshops will be delivered
in each state and territory between February and April 2010, and will utilise a
‘train-the-trainer’ approach to equip workshop attendees to deliver the
training to other staff within their workplaces.
The dates
and locations for the WA Workshops are as follows:
· 2 March Perth
No. 1 (workshop 1 is now full)
Perth No. 2 (workshop
2 date TBA)
· 3 March Bunbury (venue TBA)
· 5 March Albany (venue

Attendance at the workshops is
free, however registrations are limited to 30 persons due to the interactive
nature of the workshops.
Registrations for the REGIONAL
WORKSHOPS should be forwarded direct to the ANMC via the following email: ppf@anmc.org.au.
Registrations for PERTH No. 2 WORKSHOP are
being managed by the NMBWA, please forward these to the following email: lizb@nmbwa.org.au or phone Liz Bain on 9220
2105 for more information.
As the registrations for these workshops are limited, the NMBWA
recommends that organisations nominate staff to attend who are willing and able
to provide training to other staff on the Professional Practice Framework,
following completion of the workshop.
Please see the following ANMC information in regards to the workshops
and criteria for 'trainers'.
