Education and Research Advisory Committee

The Education and Research Advisory Committee (ERAC) provides advice and information to NMBWA on all matters relating to nursing and midwifery education and research in Western Australia.

In supporting NMBWA to meet its regulatory responsibilities, the Education and Research Advisory Committee:

  • develops and regularly reviews accreditation standards and criteria applicable to education providers and courses that lead to registration as a nurse or midwife in Western Australia
  • assesses submissions for accreditation of education providers and courses that lead to registration as a nurse or midwife in WA, to ensure that nurses and midwives are prepared to practice in a safe and competent manner in order to achieve quality health outcomes
  • submits for NMBWA consideration, final reports and recommendations for accreditation and re-accreditation of education providers and courses that lead to registration as a nurse or midwife in Western Australia
  • advises NMBWA on research priorities and partnerships with academia and industry that relate to professional nursing and midwifery practice
  • reviews applications for research grants from nurses and midwives and submit recommendations to NMBWA for consideration.

Experts as required, as ex-officio members, may be invited from the Network Advisory Panel to facilitate committee business. The Education and Research Advisory Committee Terms of Reference are available below.
