The Clinical Education for the Future Project is a joint initiative by the Nurses and Midwives Board of Western Australia and the Office of the Chief Nursing Officer, Department of Health. The project is designed to identify and facilitate the evaluation, where necessary, of new models and methods of clinical education that are responsive to anticipated future trends in nursing and health care.

As a result of a number of workshops involving representatives from both industry and education sectors, the Key Elements of an Optimal Clinical Learning Experience for Nurses and Midwives were developed. These elements are outlined in the discussion paper. A further PDF document that provides research evidence to support these Key Elements is also available to be downloaded below.
