Shapes and Manages Strategy

Provides purpose and direction to the Registration and Policy Department through the development of effective education and research strategies, policies and programs.
Develops and manages the implementation of business plans, key performance indicators, programs, systems and projects that support the achievement of organisational objectives and legislative responsibilities.
Ensures appropriate standards, quality assurance and quality improvement mechanisms are applied within the Department.
Contributes to NMBWA's strategic planning and policy development processes.

Achieves Results

Provides accountable management and leadership to the Registration and Policy Department.
Leads and manages the registration processes and client support officers of NMBWA to ensure nurses and midwives meet relevant legislative and other policy obligations.
Provides Expert advice to the NMBWA Board, Chief Executive Officer and other key stakeholders.
Develops and coordinates strategies, policies and resources to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and Public Sector policies and standards.
Leads complex registration and policy related projects.
Monitors and reports on compliance of Registration and Policy Department operations against organisational objectives, legislative requirements and NMBWA policies.
Analyses national and international trends that may impact on professional nursing and midwifery practices and regulations in Western Australia.
Evaluates the performance of the Department, identifies critical success factors and instigates continuous improvement strategies to achieve outcomes.
Acts as Deputy to the Chief Executive Officer.
Directs and maintains the development of organisational policies affecting the registration of nurses and midwifes.
Ensures effective customer services are provided to clients of NMBWA.
Assumes accountability for the effective management of human, financial and physical resources of the Education and Research Department.

Builds and Maintains Productive Relationships and Networks

Leads the building and retention of effective relationships and networks with key stakeholders including other State and Commonwealth departments and peak bodies.
Communicates NMBWA's vision and direction to key internal and external stakeholders and acts as an agent of change in building and understanding and commitment of stakeholders to NMBWA's objectives.
Provides leadership in promoting, encouraging and supporting innovative practices aligned to NMBWA's objectives.
Encourages and motivates employees to engage in continuous learning and provides appropriate professional development opportunities.
Represents NMBWA at a senior level on committees, working parties, seminars and other forums.
